I like looking at photos. Don't you?

I figured I'd give flickr's 'blog this' feature a try. And since this is one of my own photos, nobody will be bothered by the fact that their photo is represented on another blog the world could do without.

Stand up, speak up!

Sports brand company Nike has just launched a campaign against racism in football, which is represented by some of the top players of international soccer such as Arsenal's Thierry Henry, Barcelona's Ronaldinho and many others.

To learn more about this campaign and to find out where to obtain the campaign's interlocking black and white wristband as a symbol of support for the cause, visit www.standupspeakup.com.

With the backing of Nike and a campaign that is coordinated across all of Europe, this might just go beyond football players and their fans to include people worldwide 'standing up and speaking out' against racism!

...flickr back in working order

flickr is back in working order, all is well, no harm done, here we go Friday...! :-)

Flickr closed for maintenance

Oh no! The highly addictive photo-based online social networking spot that is flickr is closed for maintenance this morning...

How long will it be before one can plunge back into browsing what must be hundreds of thousands (millions?) of photos by people from all over this planet? - the good ones, the amazing ones, the absolutely useless ones...

Let's hope we'll get to resume that wonderful pastime that is 'flickring' very soon. - Can you imagine going back to life before flickr?? It seems impossible, doesn't it?

A day in the life of...

The clocks of St.Lazare

Happened to surf over to flickr today, decided to sign up to try it out, and learned that today was 'A day in the life of...'-day over there.

If you care to see a short visual representation of this day in my life and some other pics, follow this link.

Metro people

One of my 'urban snapshots'.
Taken on one of my almost daily trips in the Paris metro with my trusted little companion, the Sony Ericsson P910.

Will there be more?

As far as this blog goes, it is my fullest intention that there will be more! - Just can't promise you a definite date yet. (Guess if I'd win the lottery any time soon I could dedicate myself entirely to any type of online existance and there'd be 'lots more'...!)
For now: A bientôt! (...as the French say...)

Illinois Jacquet, 1922-2004

The face of jazz music is definitely changing. In the past three months alone, three great jazz performers have died: after drummer Elvin Jones' death in May, that of soprano saxophone icon Steve Lacy in June, the great tenor saxophonist Illinois Jacquet died less than a month ago, on July 22.

Read more about each of these legendary jazz performers and others at www.jazzpolice.com, or follow the links below:

something about eric's person...

Q&A with Saxophonist Eric Person

In case you have never heard of Eric or heard him play, I highly recommend lending an ear to Dave Holland's recording entitled 'Dream Of The Elders'.

Un été à Paris...

For anyone who might be interested in what it is like to live in Paris and to provide you with glimpses of summer-time in Paris (a wonderful season even here - in spite of not having an ocean nearby...), here's the first installment of what I am intending to be a series of personal views of my current hometown through the lens of my 'leaving-much-to-be-desired' digital camera:

Somewhere in Paris, 27/07/04

(Quiz question: Where exactly was this picture taken...? ;-)
